We know him for his funny antics, for his unbeatable compeering skills and his ability to make people laugh their guts out but in 2013 Manish Paul will be remembered as the Entertainer of the Year! Not only has he entertained us on small screen as anchor in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa but also marked his debut on the silver screen in Mickey Virus. The journey from TV to Cinema seems to have done wonders for our favorite host and what’s more we will be seeing him do more juggling between the two mediums in the coming year.

Over the years:
Manish Paul is a RJ-turned VJ-turned daily soap actor- turned TV anchor-turned film actor. He started off in 2002 as a RJ on Radio City and later moved on to TV to be a VJ. After doing numerous daily soaps like Choona Hai Asmaan and Radha Kii Betiyan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi he eventually got bored of it and gave it up in 2008. It was his anchoring in Sa Re Ga Ma PA Chhote Ustaad, Dance India Dance Li’l Masters and Comedy Circus that brought him immense recognition as a TV presenter.

He has also received innumerable awards for his impeccable anchoring skills and most recently has shared Colors Golden Petal award with Kapil Sharma for co-hosting Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 5. While he has already done a cameo in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan, Mickey Virus is his first movie as a main lead.
The year that was:

It was in 2012 that Manish joined the Colors family and anchored Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 5. His compatibility with Karan Johar, madness for Madhuri Dixit and camaraderie with all contestants is the reason he was back in season 6 this year. And this time he was seen co-anchoring the dance reality show with comedian Kapil Sharma. The two took the show to another level and were touted as a complete package.

On hosting the show with Kapil, Manish was quoted saying, “When Kapil and I get together it’s a riot. We both know what jokes to crack and we let each other take turns.  There have been times when he has said something really funny and I just end up laughing!”

While the show brought Manish a lot of success it was his hard work and dedication all the year round that finally paid off after the release of Mickey Virus.  The film was well received by the audience and his role especially got him good reviews.

The movie was even promoted by big names like Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Farah Khan and Madhuri Dixit that helped make the movie bigger.  When asked about his role in the movie Manish commented, “I am working in a film where my screen name is my real-life name. The guy belongs to the same place from New Delhi I grew up in. This movie is very close to my heart and will always hold a special place in my life.”
The year that will be:

Remember when Manish hosted India’s Got Talent season 4 last year and those romantic moments he shared with Kirru (Kirron Kher)? Well, sadly their story will remain incomplete as Manish will not be hosting IGT season 5. But going by the latest promos we know that there is a reunion of the lovers in the making!

And you never know he might just be back to host Jhalak season 7. Till then his fans can definitely watch him on the big screen as in 2014 he will be seen playing an important role in the sequel of Tere Bin Laden. In an interview Manish confirmed his plans, “After the shoot of the movie I will soon be back on TV with a show, but nothing is finalised as of yet.”
