We recently went down to the Madhubala sets and met the ever bubbly and charming Drashti Dhami. Following is an excerpt from the chat.

It’s been two weeks your show has gone on air. How does it feel?

It has been going really well, I am just going with the flow. Let’s see how it goes in future.

We have heard you haven’t watched any of Madhubala’s movies. Is it true?

Well, I have definitely seen her movies when I was a kid but that was years ago! So you really can’t say that I have watched her movies.

The show is said to be inspired by the real life romance of Madhubala and Dilip Kumar. Is that true?

For the last time no! The show is based on the film fraternity and the lives of film stars. It aims to tell you what happens after cut and before action. Many a times, we actors are having troubles in our personal life but when the camera comes on, we have to forget about our issues and just smile! So the show focuses on the real lives of actors.

A few traits of Madhubala’s character that you relate to?

Just like my character in the show, in real life too I carry a pepper spray  which I ask my cousin to send from the U.S. Then just like Madhubala I am also very economic, I don’t usually spend a lot.

You have done a lot in your career, from music videos to advertisements and now television, how has your journey been so far?

The journey has been excellent so far, I don’t regret any part of it. I really enjoyed doing advertisements because in every ad you have a new look, a new role to play. And the best part is travel! You get to see so many new places, for every ad you would go to different locations. In TV shows too its fun, the cast becomes like a family but after a point it feels like a routine. Same make up, same costume; becomes repetitive. I miss doing advertisements.

Your personal favorite show on Colors apart from Madhubala?

Other than Madhubala, my personal favorite is Balika Vadhu. I have been watching the show from the start. I would sit with my family and enjoy it. My family, especially my uncle and aunt, are such big fans of the show that they wouldn’t make any plans around 8pm so they don’t miss the show. Now they do the same for Madhubala! (grins)

No, we are not done here. We had a long chat with Drashti and will soon post the rest of the interview. So keep checking this space to read more about your favorite celeb!
