Based on the ancient Sanskrit epic Mahabharata, Colors Tv brings to you a show that’ll make you revisit mythology like none other. The story of Mahabharata covers incidents that revolved around the lives of Lord Krishna, Pandavas, Kauravas, Karna, Draupadi and the stuggles that were witnessed for the throne of Hastinapur. The kingdom was governed by the famous Kuru, between the Kauravas and the Pandavas. The differences in ideologies and thought process eventually led to the war of Kurushetra.
With Mahabharat airing on ColorsTV starting today, here are some interesting facts that you probably didn’t know!
#1 Maharishi Vedvyas composed the Mahabharat and it was written by Lord Ganesha. This however came with two conditions: One – Maharishi Vedvyas had to speak the shlokas continuously that were to be written without stopping even once. Two: He will speak the shlokas by understanding its meaning but Ganesha cannot write them without interpreting them in his mind. On days Lord Ganesha took time to understand the meaning, Vedvyas would rest.
#2 Vedvyasa was the father of Dhritrashtra, Pandu and Vidura.
#3 There are 33 main Gods according to Dharma Granthas and one of them is Ashtha Vasu who was born as Shantanu and Ganga’s son. Their 8th son was known as Bhishma.
#4 Draupadi kept her hair untied after cheerharan. She had vowed that she will untie her hair with Dushasana’s blood and eventually Bheema did the needful.
#5 Because of Gandhari’s boon, Duryodhan’s body became unbeatable. As a save for his thigh, he even wore a loin cloth on Krishna’s advice!
