Sidharth Shukla, more popularly known as Shiv of Balika Vadhu, showed us a different facet to his talents in 2013. While we know he’s a top-notch actor but by participating in Jhalak season 5 Siddharth put his dancing skills to test and came out more or less victorious. He may have not won the trophy but he indeed won hearts and created quite a stir in his fandom.
How we know him:
First time the world saw the very suave Sidharth was in Gladrags Manhunt 2005 where he was placed as a runner-up. Even though he didn’t win this particular title but in the same year was awarded ‘The Best Model of the World’ and was the first Asian to claim it. The transition from modelling to acting took its time for Sidharth but slowly and steadily he paved his way through. After doing quite a few daily soaps from 2008 to 2011, he finally bagged the role of Shiv in 2012 and has since then made his name in the industry.
Where he left his mark in 2013:
Sidharth’s character Shiv went through many ups and downs in this past year and be it the honeymoon sequence or some heavy emotional scenes, Sidharth did it all with perfection. Each time he nailed it with his eloquent expressions and remarkable screen presence. This year the show focused highly on Sidharth’s character giving him the opportunity to show more of his versatile acting.
Other than the daily soap, his fans got a chance to watch him dance in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 5 and he made quite an impression while in the show. A self confessed bad dancer, Sidharth took the show as a challenge and it was a mixture of his hard work and love of his fans that helped him stay on for 10 weeks. His popularity came as a threat to other contestants but that didn’t stop Sidharth from putting in his best efforts.
This was also the year that Sidharth became more accessible to his fans and joined social networking site Twitter. His tweets have been quite frequent letting his fans know what’s happening in his personal and professional life. Recently there were rumours about him missing and when he got to know his fans are worried he rubbished all rumours and tweeted about being safe and how “all’s good in the hood.”
As exciting as 2013 was for Sidharth, we hope the new year brings in more and more opportunities for him and may we get to see him in some more shows on Colors!
