Who is he-

What? Is that even a question? Unless you’ve been living under a rock with no access to TV or social media, you should know who Kunal Karan Kapoor is. He’s Mohan/Vasu from Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuchh Kaha, the actor who people can’t get enough of.Kunal Karan Kapoor

2013- The year of transformation and recognition

2012 for Kunal was all about spreading the magic of Mohan Bhatnagar in Na Bole Tum  Na Maine Kuchh Kaha. So much so, that 2013 started with the resurrection of the character on public demand in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuchh Kaha-2. Though seeing the dashing and still quite young Kunal play a father to an 8 year old was quite the shock for audiences, he managed to cast a spell even as a 40 year old Papu.Kunal Karan Kapoor

How he got here
Kunal played the stammering Varun in Remix, but not many people know that he was also a child actor in the show Rajni. Kunal then played the care-a-damn cadet Yudi in Left Right Left.  Kunal had no qualms playing a rough around the edges antagonist called Angad in the show Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya. But Kunal won over the audience in the role of a reckless but golden hearted reporter Mohan, who fell in love with a widow, Megha. The rest is, to employ a cliché-history.Kunal Karan Kapoor

What makes Kunal stand out
Most successes are measured in tangible milestones, but Kunal’s popularity can be measured in the amount of love that his fans have for him. His impact can be measured in the fact that Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuchh Kaha has been one of the only shows on Indian television to have a second season on public demand. In May 2013, Kunal set his popularity in concrete as he won the ITA Best Actor Award.Kunal Karan Kapoor

About this win, he said “It feels great to have won something as I never won anything, not even in school. But the win belongs to the show, the writers who have written the character and the audience.” Not just that, Kunal also set a new trend in tellyland when he trended on Twitter for 24 hours on his birthday, which was a very special gift to him by his loyal fans, apart from the cartload (literally) of gifts that he got from his fans all over the world. Not just that, he is something of a pro behind the lens too, clicking beautiful pictures and making videos that amaze his fans.Kunal Karan Kapoor

Why Kunal is a newsmaker
We told you what Kunal has been upto for the whole year, but the reason why this intense actor is a newsmaker is because everything he did made news for all the right reasons. Be it his comeback as Mohan in Na Bole Tum-2, Mohan’s death and comeback as the ruthless but lovable Vasu Bhau, or winning the Best Actor Award. Kunal Karan Kapoor

Even when the show was ending, there were countless requests for a third season of Na Bole Tum so that Megha and Mohan’s sizzling chemistry could continue, but sadly this didn’t happen. More importantly, it’s not a case of ‘Out of Sight, Out of Mind’ for Kunal, as he continues to be on his fans’ minds through social media and myriad polls (which he seems to always top) .

After a year of highs, Kunal is on a much needed vacation at the end of 2013 and is waiting for a worthy project to come his way in 2014 before he can be seen on the screen again. And knowing him, we wouldn’t expect anything less.
