Tell us about the current track on the show?
When Jhanvi got to know that she is pregnant she joined a hospital to hide it from the Bhardwaj family but Simar finally reveals it and now the entire family knows that Jhanvi is pregnant. Initially, Jhanvi wanted to abort the child but after the revelation she drops the idea and she is comfortable with her pregnancy now. She has decided to go with the flow. In the next few episodes, the viewers will see how Jhanvi gets irritated because of her pregnancy and how she is not allowed to do any work.
How do you feel about playing Jhanvi on Sasural Simar Ka?
It’s my biggest break. Now people have started recognizing me and they appreciate me for my work. I am really happy about it.
How is your bonding with the rest of the team of Sasural Simar Ka?
Everyone is good, we are like one family. But it’s Deepika Samson (Simar) who is really close to me. We share similar habits and feel like sisters. We even visit each other’s home often. Apart from her, Rohit Khurana (Shaurya) whose track on the show is over for now, I had a great time with him.
Are you similar to Jhanvi in your real life?
Yes, I am very similar to Jhanvi in real life. You can say 80 per cent similar. When I am shooting for the show I often feel that this situation is too similar to my real life situation. I have seen a lot in young age and I have always been loaded with responsibilities. Like Jhanvi, I am very emotional too. Jhanvi has various shades and in real life, I believe, everyone has various shades -- good, bad, confused, emotional and many more.
Tell us about your family background and your education?
I belong to Meerut and I did my schooling from various places like Dehradun, Meerut and Delhi. I have just studied till class 12th and I plan to study further. My family includes my mother and four siblings including me. I am the eldest. My father passed away when I was young and my mother took care of all of us.
If you were not an actor, what would you be?
If I was not an actor then I would have studied MBA and be an entrepreneur.
You always wanted to be an actor?
No, actually there were no plans of becoming an actor. I was passionate about dancing so my mother enrolled me and my younger sister Shafaq Naaz in Indian Film and Television Institute, Meerut. I learned dance under Saroj Khanji. She told my mother to shift base to Mumbai and that we both sisters could do really well here. It was on her persistence that we shifted to Mumbai in February 2010. Initially, for three months I went to Amritsar to teach dance in Masterji’s dance institute there. Then I came to Mumbai and started giving auditions.

How difficult was it to get work?
It is difficult to survive in Mumbai. Like any other aspiring actor I went for auditions and look test everyday. That’s how I got this role as well.
How do you spend your free time?
Whatever free time I get I spend it with my mother. I am really close to her and we often cook together.
Do you have any dream role?
Yes. I want to play the character of Urmila Matondkar from the film Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.
