After the original Balika Vadhu Anandi's re-marriage there's another Balika Vadhu who has recently entered the show. Popular actress Shriti Jha plays the role of Ganga, who is a young mother and is abused by her in-laws. We got a chance to have a tête-à-tête with the talented actress, and this is what she told us!

Has she adjusted?

“It feels great to be a part of such a knowledgeable and experienced cast. The feeling is immensely beautiful. It took me some time to get used to it but everyone has been nice.”

What was the challenge?

 “For me, initially, it was very difficult to imagine myself as Ganga. But the writer and director of the show have a lot of faith in the character. For them Ganga is very much human and I blindly follow their instructions. Balika Vadhu is known to etch detailed characters and Ganga is a part of that list.”

What’s the new track like?

“In the show, Ganga runs into Jagya who later comes to know about her horrid past. Soon the show will go into flashback where we will get to know more details about Ganga’s life.” 

About her co-actor Shashank?

“Well, I have shot with Shashank the most and I find him to be quite sincere. It’s fun to work with him as he is pretty chilled out!”

…And Surekha Sikri?

“I still haven’t got the opportunity to share screen space with her but I am very nervous to even be in front of her. I doubt I will even be able to utter my lines properly!”

Coming back to the show…

“There’s so much happening in Ganga’s life. She has so much anguish and hatred against her husband and his family that she has no romantic inclination towards anyone. All she thinks about is how to keep her child safe.”

Given the talent Shriti Jha has, we are sure that she will leave a mark as Ganga, her character in Balika Vadhu. Wishing her all the best!
