Manju Devi and her husband Ram Avtar both have been facing medical issues for quite sometime and this is affecting them financially and emotionally. Couple from Chandigarh, their main business is of selling snacks from which they earn a meager wage of Rs.200-300 per day.
In 2010 Manju was diagnosed with Myasthenia, a disease where the vein between the food pipe and the windpipe get entangled. Once she was operated doctors found traces of Cancer and till date she’s undergoing Chemotherapy for the same. This costs them Rs 22,000 per session and the total medical expenditure rises to Rs. 7000 every month.

Ram Avtar already has a loan of Rs.3.5 lakhs on him that he had to borrow for all medical expenses and has himself undergone heart valve operation. After the operation he underwent medical treatment for 10 years, during which he spent Rs1000 month for his medicines and injections. But since the past three years he has had to sacrifice his own medical treatment for his better half. Ram can’t afford treating his wife and himself at one go and Manju too hopes that she somehow manages to help her family regain health and all becomes well.

For a single day Bhajji, as he’s fondly called by peers, will be seen selling biscuits and other snacks on the streets of Chandigarh and some fans will get to witness their favorite bowler in action!
